The Young Communist League has developed considerably in the last few years. We now have members across Wales, including Cardiff, Pontypridd, Newport, Aberystwyth, Wrexham & Abergavenny, with numerous enquiries and support from other areas such as Swansea, Bridgend & Pembrokeshire. Our members are involved in broad movements such as Stop the War, Cuban Solidarity Campaign, Venezuelan Soildarity Campaign and the anti BNP group Searchlight. In 2007, the youngest candidate standing in elections for the Welsh Assembly was a member of the YCL, and the Communist Students (www.student-unity.org.uk) network will also be active in Universities in Wales from September

Another Commie weekend; another step closer to revolution

The 3rd weekend in August saw the Welsh Communist Party hold a Summer School for new and prospective members in Borth, Mid Wales, which incorporated the Victor Jara Festial - a celebration of the famous left wing Chilean poet killed for opposing the Pinochet regime. The sessions included Imperialism & Class, The Latin American Experience, Understanding Fascism & Communists in the Broader Movement.
On a day that saw an entire days cricket washed out by torrential rain in Birmingham, the Young Communist League (YCL) dodged the showers in Newport, South Wales to disseminate 100’s of leaflets to the many people who had flocked to the city centre.
Ok, so maybe the attendance was less to do with Britain’s leading Marxist-Leninist Youth Organisation rumbling into town, and more to do with Newport City Radios vast array of promotional events including a boxing ring and a team of dancing girls, but never the less, the YCL used this cover to infiltrate the gathering masses and offer a political message that included some interesting discussions with some of the locals.
On Saturday, 2nd May 2009, the residents of the small town of Abergavenny, South Wales, woke up to a nightmare barrage of Nazi propaganda. Members of the South Wales British Nazi Party flooded the town, delivering leaflets door to door, as well as setting up a stall on the high street, spreading their gospel of hate and intolerance.
Members from the Socialist & Communist Partycombined today under the No2EU banner, resulting in a successful leafleting session in Newport city centre. In time honoured fashion, the leafletting begun late, although it wasn't long until our SP comrades were underfire regarding a poster that they'd crudely constructed attacking Paul Flynn's (Labour MP-Newport West) expenses and flat redecoration - we say crude, but it did the job!
